Area of expertise: forestry and landuse

The Sofala Community Carbon project began working with the Nhambita community and resident small-scale subsistence farmers in the Gorongosa National Park buffer zone in 2004.

The project has since extended to other communities in the area. The Plan Vivo carbon offset project is linked to a suite of activities with the overall goal of slowing the spread of deforestation and biodiversity loss through the introduction of sustainable land use systems, improved forest management and agricultural practices, and the provision of alternative income streams.
