Responsibility

We have a dedicated CSR champion and have CSR teams across the business.

Our ambitious carbon reduction target is to significantly contribute to 1MtCO2 of annual emissions reductions by 2025. This is the equivalent of 1% of the UK’s required reductions to meet the fourth carbon budget.

We also work to reduce the environmental impact of our direct operations by working more efficiently.  We have achieved carbon neutrality in 2020.  We have been ISO 14001 compliant since 2011 and we pay ‘cycle miles’ to our staff to encourage cycling to work.

We use Verco’s network, skills and capital to invest in carbon-saving projects locally. In 2014, the community wind turbine that we co-developed and financed in Berwick was commissioned and has now operated for over 4 years, saving 1,350 tCO2. This project is providing £2.3m to the local community over the next 25 years.

Through our volunteering days we have helped to preserve natural environments, working with Wildlife Trusts and other environmental organisations:
