ESOS Action Plan Progress Update functionality now accessible on the MESOS portal

Companies with an ESOS Action Plan will be pleased to hear that the Progress Update functionality has been added to the MESOS portal. This means it is now possible to submit data ahead of the 5th December deadline.

Though this news comes far in advance of the deadline, it’s a good reminder to prepare for the first progress update (PU1).

Verco’s Associate Director, Thanos Patsos, said: ‘This update is the next step in complying with ESOS regulations. Practitioners are now able to provide ESOS Action Plan Progress Updates, report, and track progress versus their public commitments. It allows staying ahead of the curve and avoiding frantic, last-minute data entry.’

Here are a couple of top tips that will help you report most efficiently:

1. Set time aside to transfer data manually

An official PU1 template is now available. It shows the questions that will appear in MESOS and enables collection of all the necessary data. While the template is helpful for ensuring you have everything you need, it cannot be directly uploaded to the MESOS portal. You will need to transfer the data manually. Make sure you set aside time to do this.

2. Polish up your plan on tracking project progress

For each measure, practitioners will be asked:

  • Has the measure been implemented?
  • Was the measure implemented by the date proposed in the Action Plan?
  • What was the reduction in energy consumption achieved between December 2023-December 2024 (optional) and December 2024-December 2025?
  • What estimation method did you use?
  • Any additional context (optional).

What next?

Although at surface level it might appear tedious, PU1 may be used as a lever to establish or refine your plan for tracking project progress. You can further streamline this plan with MyProjects, a powerful module of our new net zero software, MyVerco.
