Continuous career development: Responsible AI use in sustainability consultancy
On 3rd July, colleagues from BIP.Verco’s UK offices came together for our annual Team Day. The day began with a company-wide AI training session, designed to help our teams explore how artificial intelligence can be used efficiently and responsibly in the workplace.
For anyone considering a career in sustainability consulting, this kind of training matters. The industry is evolving quickly, and consultants need to stay informed about the tools, technologies and approaches that can help clients address complex carbon, energy and sustainability challenges. At BIP.Verco, we encourage our teams to work smarter while maintaining the specialist expertise, critical thinking and quality our clients expect.
AI use is just one example of training offered to further our careers. Each employee’s training path is tailored to their personal goals. Flexible working, wellness action plans, personal development reviews, paid professional memberships and support with charterships are just some of the ways we make sure we’re continually learning and constantly supported.
A friendly, social team culture
BIP.Verco teams bring together different disciplines, technical skills, and sector knowledge to solve complex challenges. Making time to build relationships across offices helps colleagues work more effectively together.
For example, as part of our recent Team Day, colleagues participated in a variety of activities which were voted on by each office, so every team had the chance to choose an afternoon that suited them.
In Bath, some colleagues enjoyed snacks and drinks in the sun, while others headed onto the River Avon for paddleboarding and kayaking. They had great fun trying to keep their balance during various races and challenges, and surprised themselves (and the rest of the business) when not a single person fell in!
Our Chorley colleagues took on the treetops at Go Ape, tackling high ropes, zip lines and adventurous challenges together before finishing the day with food, drinks and time to catch up at a local brewery.
In London, the team took part in the Race Across the World Experience, solving riddles, puzzles and location-based clues across the city. The challenge called for teamwork, communication, friendly competition, and quick thinking.
These kinds of socials are not unusual at BIP.Verco. We encourage inclusion and teamwork both at work and at various socials planned throughout the year. We also set days aside for volunteering, and have taken part in initiatives supporting local rivers, farms and community-based organisations.
