Verco’s Tom Randall is a member of the UK Green Building Council’s Members Advisory Group and was at the launch of their report: Capturing the Value of Sustainability.
The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) report, which includes several case studies, is extremely valuable for businesses reviewing their environmental and social impact activities. Benefits that were previously intangible can now be captured.
11 value drivers are identified including cost savings, asset value and reputation. Comprehensive metrics allow businesses to understand the indicators as well as the methodology for reviewing them.
The details mainly relate to buildings and infrastructure but some of the principles can be applied to other business types.
This report not only allows businesses to make a stronger business case for sustainable practices, but also enables more effective measurement once they are in place.
