Verco’s Chorley office returns to Bendrigg Trust for a day of volunteering

We’ve been volunteering with Bendrigg Trust – a residential activity centre providing all-inclusive breaks for disabled children and adults – for three years now. On 14th October, the Chorley team returned for a day of organising and advising.

Bendrigg Trust is based in Cumbria, near Kendal. Their aim is to bring people of all ages and abilities together for experiences they’ll never forget. They have been enabling disabled people to achieve through adventure for over 45 years.

In the past, Verco has supported them with decorating, path building, and general maintenance. This time, we helped rejuvenate the caving system used as an activity for visitors.

Jennifer Taylor, one of the volunteers, said: ‘The walls, floors and tunnels were hoovered, wiped and mopped back to near-new condition. It was not a straightforward job, but it gave us a great sense of achievement. In the afternoon, we set up donated equipment and organised the Christmas merchandise.’

It would be a shame not to put our specialisms to good use, so we also carried out an audit to assist with Bendrigg's energy usage. The site was already in good shape, but we were able to offer further tips and advice, including guidance on a solar panel installation project they are in the early stages of planning.

As ever, the team had a great day with Bendrigg and look forward to returning in 2026.
