Verco shortlisted for National Energy Consultant of the Year in the 2025 National Energy Efficiency Awards

We’re thrilled to announce that Verco has been shortlisted for National Energy Consultant of the Year in the 2025 National Energy Efficiency Awards!
The National Energy Efficiency Awards were set up to recognise success, innovation and ethics in companies and individuals as we move towards a more sustainable and energy efficient future. The National Energy Consultant of the Year category seeks to reward ambitious, high-performing teams who advise businesses and/or homeowners about energy efficiency savings and measures.
It's great to celebrate our team’s hard work. Our aim at Verco is to help corporate and real estate businesses reduce their carbon emissions and optimise their journey to net zero, and our consultants dedicate a great deal of time and energy to making this happen. A huge volume of work has been completed over the past year, including:
- Detailed assessments for breweries in more than 11 countries across 5 continents, responsible for approximately 3.5% of the world's beer production. On average, we have identified energy reduction opportunities of 35% for these breweries.
- A partnership with UCL’s Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources to deliver cutting edge research on behalf of DESNZ. The National Buildings Database project aims to create a digital representation of the energy used by every building in Great Britain. Verco provided over 70 Level 5 dynamic simulation models, covering a huge range of non-domestic built assets, from churches and railway stations to factories, ice rinks and hotels. This amazing dataset will be used by government researchers and policymakers to identify effective levers for improving energy efficiency.
- Specific guidance for clients on energy audits, embodied carbon considerations, technical feasibility studies, cost analysis, and landlord–tenant responsibility assessments.
- Degasification strategies, ensuring heating systems are transitioned away from fossil fuels in a technically and financially viable way.
- Clear, asset-specific implementation plans and roadmaps with timing, costs, and carbon impacts.
Dave Worthington, Verco’s Managing Director, said: ‘It's fantastic for our team to be recognised for our contributions to energy efficiency when this is what we work so hard to deliver. We’re grateful to the judges for shortlisting us, and we’re looking forward to seeing the final results in November. We’ll continue to help businesses meet their decarbonisation and broader sustainability goals.’
