World Mental Health Day 2022

The 10th October is World Mental Health Day, recognised by The World Health Organisation. This year the theme is ‘Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority.’

Here at Verco, mental health is talked about openly and health and wellness are both sponsored and promoted. We encourage our team to take advantage of flexible working, to walk at lunch times, take part in a range of socials and we actively promote a work-life balance. Verco also gives our employees the option to complete wellness action plans which promote wellbeing and address any existing mental health needs whilst highlighting preferred ways of working.

Emilija Emma, head of Report for Zero within the Real Estate team speaks honestly about her journey, wanting to support others too:

It’s important to be supported, in a business which makes accommodations where mental or physical health is concerned. Be it depression, anxiety, chronic pain, bereavement – you don’t have to pretend to be fine all the time. I went through a bout of depression, and experienced a major bereavement, all while working for Verco, and I’ve been able to share what’s going on, adjust my work schedules and locations so I could continue to contribute while going through an awful time. The company is there for you and that's the human touch of Verco.”

World Mental Health Day is also a chance to talk about mental health in general, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to talk about things and get help if you are struggling.

The World Mental Health website has a fantastic range of resources to dip into such as publications, podcasts, and challenges, all designed to help you look after your wellbeing.
