Decarbonisation summer series 02. Capitalise on the drivers

Welcome to the second part of Verco's summer series to take action on decarbonisation!

This second issue focusses on the current drivers for decarbonisation and how they can support capital investment.

Part 02. Capitalise on the drivers for decarbonisation

Current macro-economic uncertainty can make decarbonisation seem hard to prioritise or deliver. Alongside that uncertainty, businesses know they’ll be affected by the impact of climate change – for example, the financial risk their assets are exposed to from physical and transition risks – but they don’t know exactly to what extent, or where or when.

All of this can lead to inaction and missed opportunities to decarbonise, reduce costs and create resource efficiencies. However, amidst the flux and uncertainty, there is a long-term trajectory that you can be more confident in and capitalise on:

  • The long-term economics of clean energy compared to fossil fuel alternatives
  • Strong regulatory frameworks, especially in Europe
  • Concerns about current and future energy price volatility incentivising energy reduction

'No regrets' opportunities: Verco’s heat decarbonisation mini guides

Keeping sight of that longer-term trajectory, heat decarbonisation is a prime example of a ‘no regrets’ opportunity that exists despite the uncertainty. With the right heat technology, you can take advantage of the long-term economics of clean energy and mitigate the worst impacts of price volatility by reducing consumption.

What’s more, whether it’s through scheduled or unexpected opportunities to replace or upgrade heat technologies, understanding the solutions available to you can avoid stranded assets and locked-in, high carbon solutions.

Despite it being one of the largest steps on the way to net zero, implementing heat decarbonisation technology is something many organisations struggle with because of the different solutions and combinations available. That’s why Verco has created a series of guides to support your knowledge of what’s out there for heat decarbonisation.

How are you overcoming the costs of decarbonisation?

Verco has access to hundreds of costed decarbonisation projects, with evidenced ROI and OPEX/CAPEX considerations. Whether your priority is optimising obvious topics like energy management or driving action on underutelised decarbonisation drivers like Green IT and digital decarbonisation, we can talk you through the options available to you.

Let us know if you're interested in a call over the summer to discuss the right decarbonisation opportunities for your business.
