Reflecting on a busy year: What Verco got up to in 2025 and what we’re planning next

Though 2025 came with a range of changes and challenges for the climate action agenda, it was a busy and productive year for Verco.

Our team grew and our consultants enjoyed working with clients on a wide variety of projects. We also spent time together as colleagues, with a varied calendar of social events, volunteering days, and company meetings.

Here are just a few of our highlights from 2025:

We were delighted to win, and be shortlisted for, several prestigious awards

This year, we made the Financial Times’ list of the UK’s leading management consultants and ranked in the top 10 of TechRound’s Sustainability60. We were also shortlisted for the Edie Net-Zero Awards (as Consultancy of the Year), and the Energy Efficiency Awards (as National Energy Consultant of the Year). These were great opportunities to celebrate our team’s hard work, and we’re grateful to all our clients who supported us.

Our London office returned to Stepney City Farm

Having volunteered there regularly since 2018, our London-based colleagues were pleased to return to Stepney City Farm, an educational charity supporting the local community and those facing mental health challenges. They got stuck into a range of activities, including composting, litter picking, and animal pen cleaning. The highlight (as always) was the animal grooming!

We continued our evolution from reporting to impact in the brewing industry

For more than 10 years, we've partnered with some of the world’s leading brewing companies to shape their energy efficiency and decarbonisation strategies. Our advanced GHG modelling tools have now been used to footprint one third of the world’s beer—a milestone that highlights our deep expertise in the brewing sector. But we don’t stop at reporting. We deliver impact.

In 2025, we worked across 11 countries, developing ambitious yet practical decarbonisation plans for breweries worldwide. These plans are driving rapid results:

  • One major brewery cut energy consumption by 20% within six months of our engagement.
  • Another North American brewery achieved a 7.5% improvement in just two months.

Our hands-on approach ensures breweries move beyond targets to tangible outcomes, and fast. Andrew Todd, Director at Verco, explains: “We’ve been working closely with breweries for over 15 years, refining our understanding of the sector and its processes. Today, brewery decarbonisation is one of our core specialisms.”

We took a trip to Birmingham for our annual company meeting

It was great to see colleagues from around the world in person at our annual company meeting. We had a great time in Birmingham, catching up and strategising. Highlights included colleague awards, a lovely team dinner and a table-top escape room!

Our South West office cleaned out a river in Bristol

Our Bath and Bristol team spent the day volunteering with a local river protection charity, Bristol Avon Rivers Trust. Together we cleared six months of litter from the Pigeonhouse Stream, finding shopping trolleys, scooters, the front half of a motorbike, a fridge, fly-tipped clothing, building site waste and more

food wrappers than we could count. It was a stark reminder to dispose of our litter responsibly!

We spoke at multiple industry events

Each year we enjoy connecting with like-minded professionals at conferences and workshops.

In 2025, Andrew Todd gave a keynote presentation at Sustainability Live, Andries van der Walt joined a panel discussion at MIPIM, Tilly Shaw hosted a panel session at UKREiiF, and we attended Property Week ESG Edge and The District.

Carbon Desktop rebranded to MyPerformance

Following the launch of our new decabonisation software platform, MyVerco, a landmark moment for us was rebranding and updating our Carbon Desktop software. It is now named MyPerformance as the AI-supported M&T module within the MyVerco product suite. It includes all the much-loved features of Carbon Desktop and the same exceptional service and support, now combined with advanced project and pathway management via the multi-module MyVerco.

Our Chorley office supported Bendrigg Trust

For the third year, our Chorley team volunteered with Bendrigg Trust, a residential activity centre providing all-inclusive breaks for disabled children and adults. We helped rejuvenate the caving system used as an activity for visitors, and carried out an audit to assist with Bendrigg's energy usage.

Jennifer Taylor, one of the volunteers, said: ‘The walls, floors and tunnels were hoovered, wiped and mopped back to near-new condition. It was not a straightforward job, but it gave us a great sense of achievement. In the afternoon, we set up donated equipment and organised the Christmas merchandise.’

Various social events and office celebrations kept us connected

We celebrated birthdays each month (with cake, of course), hosted socials ranging from axe throwing to origami, and ran knowledge shares and sessions for Diversity Awareness Month, Menopause Awareness Month, Pride and more. It was great fun trying new things and getting to know our colleagues better.

What’s next?

In 2026, we’re building on these achievements. The year has started strong with lots of plans and projects already scheduled. We’re looking forward to what's next, and hope to work with you as climate action evolves.
